2028 My wife is writing this review, since she is the person who ordered it:After all the accolades surrounding this book and because of my interest in Tibetan Buddhism, I was eager to read this book. I found the first half satisfying and informative; however, when I reached the part about the necessity of submission to and total trust in one's master/guru, and the Djoghen practice, I became uneasy. I decided to research Buddhist masters, and I came upon several articles about the author Sogyal Rinpoche. According to a 2017 article in U.K.'s Telegraph, this enlightened person appears to have been tempted by the excesses of the West, becoming verbally and physically abusive to followers, demanding sex from female students, and generally living a lifestyle that is the antithesis of Buddhist teachings. I regret adding to his fortune by buying this book, and I encourage other potential buyers to do a bit of research before ordering.Please know that I am in no way criticizing the practice of Buddhism in general or Tibetan Buddhism in particular. There is much merit in its teachings. There are many honorable teachers to learn from, and I intend to pursue my interest with others. For me, however, I simply cannot read another word from this book.
